Honorary members are chosen by the Montgomery County Fair Board. While several of these people and businesses chosen have dedicated years and generations of volunteer hours to our event, some were only with us a short time but their heroic lives deserve to be celebrated.

CROSSLYN MOONEY
On the eve of Crosslyn’s surgery, she reassured her mom from where her confidence was rooted. She said, “He has this, and He is wrapped around us, God’s got this,”. Since the diagnosis, Crosslyn has continued to display her courage to family and friends.
In recent months, Crosslyn’s vibrant spirit has been put to the test as she was diagnosed with ATRT, Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor. Yet, amid her own deep adversity, Crosslyn’s characteristic charm and care for others has shined brighter than ever. She credits her growing faith and love for Jesus as the foundation for her strength. Crosslyn’s parents, Brian and B.J. Mooney, along with others in their community of Welch, Oklahoma, are in awe of how she’s handling her life-changing diagnosis.
In true Crosslyn character, she defied the odds qualifying for NLBRA Finals the weekend prior to starting radiation treatments. Her determination continued as she continued to rodeo during radiation treatments on the weekends, not letting the diagnosis define her.
Through the nine months of treatment in Memphis, she underwent 32 radiation treatments, four months of chemo and multiple transfusions. She returned home in late April to continue her recovery. Crosslyn’s grit and determination continued to show through treatment as she continued to lift others even on her worst days. She competed in NLBRA finals this July, while still in recovery.
Crosslyn’s level of resolve and positivity during difficult circumstances rivals that of people many years older. And she knows exactly where her strength comes from. “I think I get my strength from my mom and dad and from Jesus. I really trust in God to help me through my life and what I am going through right now,” Crosslyn explained. As she continues this lifelong battle, she is reminded that this is just a chapter in the story.
Crosslyn’s story is filled with reminders to young and old alike of what a life of beauty, strength, and compassion looks like. A life radiant with a love for Jesus and people. An inspiration to all. Her story is a testimony of her faith, and we’re praying God allows her to continue to shine His light for so many others.
Approximately 6000 children are diagnosed in the US with cancer each year with 400,000 nationwide, less than 40 cases are ATRT.
